$425,000- 342 South Shore Trail Road- Canada Lake
This one of a kind waterfront home exudes Adirondack charm, and represents the ultimate
in Adirondack lake living. 150 feet of waterfront on over 1 acre of land provides plenty of
space to relax and unwind on Canada Lake, called by some as the Adirondack’s greatest
secret. It’s a very private, quiet spot, with lovely views of Kane Mt. to the east.
A western facing lakefront gives a full afternoon of sun, and picturesque sunsets that have
to be seen to be appreciated. This camp really has the right stuff, and I believe it’s a once
in a lifetime opportunity, as the family has owned this camp for over 50 years!
Guests will walk into an enormous great room with high vaulted ceilings, fully clad in pine
wainscot. Imagine entertaining guests in what can only be described as a true Adirondack
great room, in the tradition of old-style camps of the past. There is a lot of space here,
surrounded by 5 bedrooms, 4 of which have overhead ‘secret’ lofts for the kids or extra
guests. This camp can accommodate a large extended family in its nearly 2000 sf of space.
Built in 1980, the camp features a Vermont Castings woodstove that sits on a hand-crafted
field stone hearth. The camp is well winterized, which allows for comfortable four season use,
including fall foliage season and skiing/snowmobiling in the winter. The formal dining room
faces the lake, with sliding Pella glass doors that provide plenty of light and quick access to
the deck, if you prefer outside dining. The camp has 2 full bathrooms, one of which features
a clawfoot bathtub. Antiques abound to accent the charm, all available upon request.
A galley kitchen opens to a small pantry with a Gould’s water pump and a new hot water
heater. The master bedroom has 2 closets and sliding glass doors that face the water.
Spectrum cable is available, perfect for those seeking modern amenities.
Lake water is used to shower and drinking water is brought in, although it would be easy to
add a UV purifying system to drink the lake water. There is a new poly septic tank ready to
be installed, which pumps up to the leach field behind the camp.
Outside, the camp is clad in long lasting cedar siding and a new shingle roof of less than
5 years. An out-building provides storage for skis and equipment, and a place to change
out of wet bathing suits. Old-growth trees around the property have been conserved,
which provides shade and privacy: the camp is barely visible from the lake.
Green space abounds, and the carpet-like moss that covers the grounds has been
cultivated and encouraged. The overall effect is stunning, and will have you saying ‘Wow’.
A huge glacial boulder sits in front of a campfire area, and includes a cave that will entertain
your kids for hours.
Access to the camp is provided by boat, with a large boathouse across the lake, only
a minute’s ride. The boathouse and camp both feature Shore Station metal docks that are a
snap to put in. The boathouse, on a 99 year lease, has a poured concrete floor that provides
storage for smaller boats, kayaks and sailboats. Roads to the boathouse and trail head are
maintained year-round by the town. Taxes of approximately $4200.
Please have your finances in place and make appointments with plenty of notice so I can
arrange a boat ride - OR we can take a leisurely walk down S. Shore Trail to the house.
Only 1 hour from Saratoga. Truly one of a kind: make an appointment before this one slips
away!
